Merrill Dubrow: My name is Merrill Dubrow, CEO of M/A/R/C research and a 35-plus-year veteran of the insights community and the host of our podcast, On the M/A/R/C, welcome to another Merrill-ISM segment. Today's segment is, what are you going to do for National LinkedIn Week? OK, let me start by saying I made that up, yes I did, this week is not National LinkedIn Week, however, let's pretend it is, and that what I'm about to say makes a little sense. I'm a huge advocate of LinkedIn, and yes, I have close to 29,000 connections. But the real story is why? I think you need to be a power user of LinkedIn in today's business world. I also believe it's a canvas of one's life work. I know that's a mouthful, but I do believe, and as a person who interviews and hires lots of people in my career, it is the first place I go to before I review a resume. Now why? Because I want to see who they're connected to, what have they accomplished, what pictures do they have on their profile, what posts do they make, what comments do they like. Is it original content, is the person engaged in the industry, do they write articles that have been published by the insights association or courts, have they presented at a conference, and if so, where, and when? And how many groups do they have, and do they have recommendations, and if so, how many? So there are a lot of questions that I ask, there's a lot of information that I look for. And are they involved in charities which I really like, because that means somebody's giving something back, and that's a difference maker for me. With this being National LinkedIn Week, why don't you update your profile, change out a picture or two, invite some college friends to connect, and list the charity work you've done in the past on your profile on LinkedIn? Remember, this is the best business tool to showcase who you are, and what you've done over your lifetime. My name is Merrill Dubrow, thanks for listening to today's podcast. Today's segment is, what are you going to do for National LinkedIn Week? Stay well, stay safe, and please, please stay in touch.
