Merrill Dubrow: My name is Merrill Dubrow, CEO of M/A/R/C Research and a 35-plus-year veteran of the insights community and the host of our podcast on the M/A/R/C. Welcome to another on the M/A/R/C Merrill-ISM, 19 years and counting. That's the Merrill-ISM that is likely near and dear to my heart. This one is very special and means a great deal to me. November 8th, 2004. This was a few weeks after my beloved Boston Red Sox won the World Series after, drum roll, a 60-year drought. I thought I was OK so I could leave town. I left for a city that I'd only been to a few times for a company that I knew no one, not one single person. 19 years ago, I walked into the M/A/R/C Research offices for the first time. A shout out and thanks to the leadership team at Omnicom of Dale Adams, Michael Berkman, and Tom Harrison for hiring me as president and CEO 19 years ago. When I arrived at M/A/R/C for the first time, people like KMAT and Susan Hurry and John Graham and Louie Louie and Alice Butler, Scott Cairey, KVD, the system, Michelle Wilmouth, Randy Wahl, Lisa Smitty, Ray Netzel, Paolo, Jennie Lovejoy, my little New York Yankee fan, the hookster, Jonathan Hook, Rich Eberlin, Gwen Amador, Rhonda Ellis. They all welcomed me to the company with open arms. And all of them had been with the company longer than I have. Get that, that entire list I read was there on day one when I walked through the door and they are still here. We worked day in and day out and together changed the strategy of the company. We changed the culture. We changed our priorities. We got to know each other. And in my opinion, built something very, very special. There was one person I left out on that list. Someone I really relied on. Somebody I trusted from day one. Somebody who believed in me, probably a little bit scared at the beginning. And who I knew had all the answers as long as I asked the right questions, and that is Patricia. She's been a rock and confidant for a long time and thank you for everything. This company means the world to me. But what the company is built on isn't systems. It isn't technology. It isn't methodology. But rather 80 heartbeats collaborating day in and day out to deliver insight since 1965. Think about that. This journey has been incredible. The lifelong friendships I have made along the way have been special. We have all grown up together and frankly been there through some very challenging and difficult times- the financial crash of 2008 to name one and COVID, obviously, in March of 20. Together, we navigated those changes and challenges. We navigated them head on and built something even better and stronger. To the staff at M/A/R/C, I say thank you from the bottom of my heart. Thank you for accepting me for who I am. For trusting me. For challenging me. For believing in each other. And for being part of my family. Thanks for listening to today's On The M/A/R/C Merrill-ISM, 19 years and counting. I truly hope whatever company you are working for, you are enjoying it as much as I do. My name is Merrill Dubrow. I look forward to hearing from you. Stay well, stay safe, and please, please, stay in touch.
