Merrill Dubrow: My name is Merrill Dubrow, CEO of M/A/R/C Research and a 35 plus year veteran of the insights community and the host of our podcast, On the M/A/R/C. Welcome to another Merrill-ISM segment. Today's segment is My Siblings Are. Today's podcast and Merrill-ISM, as usual, a little different, and of course, starts with a story. A few weeks ago, it's a Saturday, and I'm watching ESPN an interview with J. J. Watt, who's an incredible NFL player. He was answering questions very candidly about the abuse his body has taken, and maybe some of the things he would have done different. And his answer was interesting, he said he kept coming back from injuries way too soon. And that decision probably cost him games and one or more additional injuries, for sure. Then he started to discuss his brother TJ, who plays for the Steelers, and without question is a superstar in the NFL. He described how great his brother T. J. is, how supportive he is, and how proud he is, and how he should have won at least three Defensive Player of the Year awards. While he was describing and talking about his brother, it got me to think about my siblings. And for those of you who don't know, I have two younger sisters. Both of them are frankly different. My older sister, Laurie, has a huge heart. She's a nurse manager and gives herself to many. She is such a dedicated employee, an extremely loyal person. And someone who recently battled the C-word like a champ. She was in pain. She didn't feel good many days. But she worked through it. She stayed positive. She was strong. She frankly treated it like a bump in the road. She is funny - sorry, Sis - but not the funniest of the three of us. And it's interesting she was a more of a homebody for many years, but that's changed over the last decade. My other sister Sheryl, she's unique in her own way. Funny, caring. And when someone says to me, Merrill, you're a great salesperson. my answer always is, without hesitation, I am nothing compared to my sister Sheryl. She is classically trained. She's the best salesperson I know. And when I say that, the best, I mean it. That is not taking away from any of the other salespeople that I've worked with or manage, or frankly, industry friends. She can be tough. And she can and is very pointed. But both my sisters are different, in fact, I would see we all are. When I think of my siblings, a huge, huge smile appears. They are truly the best, and my life is better for it. Thanks, Sis and Sis. I love you. I truly hope you are as fond of your siblings as I am of mine. My name is Merrill Dubrow. Thanks for listening to today's podcast, My Siblings Are. Stay well, stay safe, and yes, please, please stay in touch.
