Merrill Dubrow: My name is Merrill Dubrow, CEO of M/A/R/C Research and a 35-plus-year veteran of the insights committee and a host of our podcast on the M/A/R/C. Welcome to another Merrill-ISM segment. Today's segment is traveling– you fill in the blank. Let me start by saying I flown over two and a half million miles on American Airlines alone. Let me say, I used to love to travel. I love the experience. I love the sites I saw. I love seeing friends that have moved all over. And I'm now in a city that I'm visiting in and catching up. And I've gone up different stadiums and different sports. I love eating at fun restaurants. With all that said, traveling for me isn't as fun as it used to be. In fact not even close which frankly it bums me out. Maybe it's the constant airline delays and cancellations. Perhaps, it's the 90 minutes to rent a car even though you have a reservation that happened at Newark Airport recently. Perhaps, it's the lack of cleanliness that I think are in the hotel rooms these days, they just don't appear to be as buttoned up as they once were. Maybe it's the unruly and disrespectful passengers. And that has a lot to do with. I also do think that customer service isn't what it used to be and it could be tied directly to the disrespectful and unruly passengers that seemed to be plentiful. And by definition of use to be, I'm going to say prior to COVID because I think that's important. I almost think that customer service is a thing sometimes of the past. There seems to be an attitude that is anything but helpful. When you ask for something, it's almost like you're interrupting their day which is just odd. And all of this leads me to say traveling isn't as much fun as it used to be and it really makes me sad. What have you noticed? Do you still love to travel as much as you used to? And what are your thoughts? My name is Merrill Dubrow. Thanks for listening to today's podcast. Today's segment traveling– you fill in the blank. I look forward to hearing from you. Stay well. Stay safe and please stay in touch.
