Merrill Dubrow: My name is Merrill Dubrow, CEO of M/A/R/C Research and a 35 plus year veteran of the insights community and the host of our podcast On the M/A/R/C. Welcome to another On the M/A/R/C Merrill-ISM, sometimes less is more. Of course, I need to start with the story, an example and perhaps a comparison. As I record this Merrill-ISM, the NBA season is seven games old. Seven games are behind us. Seven games have results that are in the record books and the Dallas Mavericks, my Dallas Mavericks are six in one. Their only loss is to the Denver Nuggets. Congrats Don Golden. You beat my Mavericks, only team to do that this year and are the defending NBA champs. The Mavericks have exceeded expectations so far for sure. The question is, why? I believe less is more. Like I like Kyrie Irving, a superstar, a magician with the ball, appears to have changed his game, made sacrifices for the team. He doesn't really have as lofty numbers as he's had in the past but they are winning. He is winning. The Mavericks are playing great team ball. They're winning more games than they were expected to and doing it because sometimes less is more. How does that relate to our business? How does that relate to you? We all work with stars like Kyrie, who can handle a situation, a client meeting or a problem. Perhaps for all the Kyries out there listening, don't always do it, don't always solve the issue, don't always make the situation better. Perhaps tee it up, like Kyrie Irving does with an assist and let the other person, the other team member figure it out. That's how people grow, that's how people feel better about themselves, and that's how people learn with experience with trying to tackle a situation that normally they don't or aren't given a chance to. I think there's some huge learnings here. My name is Merrill Dubrow. Thanks for listening to today's On the M/A/R/C Merrill-ISM, sometimes less is more. I hope you can think about what I'm saying and truly try and put that into practice because I do believe it can and will work. I look forward to hearing from you. Stay well, stay safe and please stay in touch.
