Merrill Dubrow: My name is Merrill Dubrow, CEO of M/A/R/C Research and a 35-plus year veteran of the insights community and the host of our podcast, On the M/A/R/C. Welcome to another on the M/A/R/C Merrill-ISM. I have a problem. And the next word should be dot, dot, dot. All right, of course today's Merrill-ISM is going to start with a story. Every Saturday and Sunday when I'm not traveling and I'm in Dallas, I tend to play pickleball with a group of extremely talented players. Guys like Glen "I'm from Canada." Or Brian, who wears his Texas A&M hat, or Andrew who sports his talent and masters hat, or young bucks like Reid who likes to crush the ball, and many other fun guys like John, Joe Murali, Ivan, Nowell, Derek, Tim, or Alex and his competitiveness, and frankly, many others that I'm probably leaving out. The point is I play every Saturday and Sunday, and together with my partner in crime named Phil, we organized the game. Well, this morning, one of the guys had his mother-in-law suddenly pass away and I'm really sorry about that. And he can't play this weekend. After responding with an I'm sorry, I responded to Phil with a replacement for the person who had to drop. In essence, not dropping a problem on Phil or saying, hey, we're short a guy, as opposed to saying, hey, we lost one, but I replaced him with another guy. What I'm saying is, I delivered a solution with a potential problem. And why am I talking about that today? Because how many times do our teams or friends or relatives show up with a problem? And I got to tell you something that happens so many times, they show up with a problem and perhaps no solutions. I say, no, don't do that. Show up with the problem, but you know what? Perhaps one or two or three potential solutions. Maybe none of the solutions will work. And frankly, I think that's OK. At least a friend or relative or boss or colleague feels like you tried. And I think that's important. Thanks for listening to today's on the M/A/R/C Merrill-ISM. I have a problem. And the next four words should be. I hope my point resonated just a little bit with you. My name is Merrill Dubrow. I look forward to hearing from you. Stay well, stay safe, and please, please stay in touch.
