Merril Dubrow: Welcome to this edition of Merrill-ISMs. Now, this is not Merrill, it's Steve Schlesinger, one of Merrill's BFFs and the executive chairman of Sago, and the guest host of On the M/A/R/C podcast. So about six months ago, I did a guest podcast on the topic of change. And I was bold enough to ask for another slot to report on how I was doing with this change, specifically my changing role back in November of 2022 from CEO to executive chairman. This was a big change from a role that I've had for over 25 years, leading a company of over 1000 people globally. When big changes happen, it's critical for us to take a look back and measure our success. So here's my self-evaluation on how I am doing so far. My three goals were waking up each day and being intentional in how I showed up to my new role, adjust to the changes that were required over time, and check in with others on how all this was landing. With my daily intentions still in place, this is still front and center for me. That part continues to work well. In terms of the adjustments that have been required, that has been more challenging. Today, I'm attending less of the daily functions of the business, and really giving Reed Cundiff, our CEO, the space to operate. It's his business to run day to day. It's a strange place for me to be. With that said, it is the right place for me to be. When I pause about the change in connection, I recognize its importance in this chapter for Sago. The third goal of checking in with others has been something I've tried to do continuously throughout the months. This is one of my first questions for Reed on our calls and meetings. I think by asking it directly, it allows him the channel to comment back with complete openness. It's also a reminder that he has my confidence. I want to make sure I'm supporting him and the business in the most meaningful ways. So for my mid-year review, I'm going with high marks. But let's face it, the jury is always out and things like this. The key for me is to continue on this path of mindfulness, intention and adaptation as the time goes by. And of course the real grade comes with the success of my new CEO, Reed, and the Sago business. Wishing everybody a great day and stay tuned for Merrill coming back with another Merrill-ISM real soon.
